Human Resources in the 21st century requires experts in managing problems and challenges to achieve competitiveness. Human Resource Management includes the process of hiring, training and managing the workforce. We focus on building their skills, capabilities, and knowledge to build a human resources structure that allows managing all the different alternatives for the organization to maintain its competitive advantage.<\/p>\n
The Master of Science in Human Resources prepares students to recruit, hire, develop and manage personnel in any type of business, from start-ups to multinational corporations. Professional skills and competencies are developed through participation and practical experience in management activities.<\/p>\n
The program consists of nine courses (27 credits total) covering the general business environment, followed by an in-depth study of human resource management, planning and strategy. The program will equip students to effectively formulate, execute, lead, evaluate and manage human resource strategy.<\/p>\n

During the planning process, students will conceptualize key functional areas of a business, including sales, marketing, finance and accounting, customer service, human resources, research and development, production, and distribution.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/span><\/p>\nBU 502 \u2013 Managerial Economics (3 credits)<\/span><\/h4>\nEvery business is impacted by external economic forces. Understanding the key concepts of is essential to making good business decisions. Concepts covered in this course include supply and demand, elasticity, taxation, markets, currency, trade, and competition.<\/p>\n
BU 503 – Principles of Managerial Finance (3 credits)<\/span><\/h4>\nReviews the role of finance in business. Students will learn the key concepts of financial management, including: the relationship between accounting and financial functions, financial analysis, value assessment, and the use of financial data to make business decisions.<\/p>\n

Hiring, training, and retaining the right people and motivating them is a key element of business success. This course provides an overview of human resources processes and strategies. Practices for recruitment, selection, training, management, promotion, retention, compensation, and discipline of employees are addressed.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/span><\/p>\nHR 502 \u2013 Training & Development (3 credits)<\/span><\/h4>\nIn the knowledge economy, skills and professional competencies become obsolete quickly. This course focuses on strategies to develop and train employees. Students will learn how to implement strategies cultural change to improve employee performance and the achievement of organizational goals.<\/span><\/p>\nHR 602 \u2013 Human Resources in the Global Context (3 credits)<\/span><\/h4>\nIn the diverse global environment where businesses currently operate, regional and cultural differences can impact business strategy, operations, and success. This course examines strategies for overcoming differences in cultural perspectives and optimizing business operations and human resources management.<\/span><\/p>\nHR 603 \u2013 Human Resources Strategic Planning (3 credits)<\/span><\/h4>\nWithout hiring and retaining the right people, an organization cannot achieve its strategic goals. This course reviews processes for the development of strategic plans for human resources management.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n(*) Stackable Certificates are not mandatory for the MS in Human Resources program. If the student wants the certificates issued along the way, because we want to maintain the minimum possible tuition for the programs, there is an additional $150 fee for each certificate to cover the administrative costs associated with performing the degree audit and issue a digital certificate.
